Happy New Year!  I hope you had a nice time over the Christmas holidays.

I have found that over these holiday periods my daily practice can very easily slip.  This Christmas I had family staying, social events and D.Y.I. which filled up my days.  These were lovely times but with so much going on and being out of my normal routine meant that my daily practice for staying in balance and alignment went out the window.  I felt OK but I noticed by the end of the holidays I felt as though I had lost my centre.  I felt outside of myself, not deeply connected and in alignment like I am used to feeling.  I wasn’t as tuned in to my intuition, my brain was fuzzy and I felt out of the flow with myself and the Universe.  I do not like this feeling!

Sometimes it’s good for me to remember what it feels like to be out of alignment as I then get a deeper reminder of why it’s so important to be in alignment with ourselves.  Being out of alignment over an extended period of time can leave you feeling overwhelmed, out of balance, emotional, reactive, lost, confused, anxious, flat, unmotivated, depressed, and/or exhausted.  This is the time when life can feel like it’s getting on top of you.  This is never a nice feeling.

Shutterstock photo woman meditatingGetting into alignment is about getting into the flow with yourself, your true essence (your soul or higher self) and the Universe.  It’s being deeply connected to yourself, the universe and the planet.  When in alignment everything flows with greater ease and joy.  When in alignment you are moving with the river rather than fighting to get upstream.

In order to consciously get into alignment, I recommend a daily practice.  You need to create time and space to connect with yourself, the universe and the earth every day.

Here are my favourite practices for getting into alignment:

  • Meditation
  • Yoga
  • Exercise
  • Dance
  • Being in Nature
  • Eating well (cutting out foods that leave you heavy, eating foods that feel light)
  • Energy Clearing

From my experience, getting into alignment and staying in alignment doesn’t often happen magically by itself.  You will move into alignment naturally from time to time but in order to have a daily experience of being in alignment with yourself and the universe, you need to consciously choose to do this on a daily basis.  The benefits are so great and worth it.  When you are in alignment with yourself and the universe you can feel:

  • Peace
  • Connection
  • Purpose
  • Clarity
  • Understanding
  • Patience
  • Love
  • Compassion
  • Freedom
  • Wisdom
  • Trust

I have a regular practice of meditation, energy clearing, exercise, being in nature, visualisation and eating well.  I have to do these things in order to feel good.  For me balance does not come naturally, it’s through a conscious practice and daily action that brings me back into myself.

Everything that you are looking for lies within.  When you create time and space to reconnect with yourself and the Universe, you tap into that great wisdom within you.  Get 2016 off to a great start by getting into the flow, into alignment with yourself.  Beautiful things comes from this place.
